1) What is your typical lead time?
For items which we supply and fit our lead time is usually 8 to 10 weeks. During the busy summer months, our lead times can stretch to 11 or 12 weeks. Our lead times for supply only items throughout the year is 8 weeks. We will provide you with a lead time when you request a quote and when placing an order, the lead time only begins once a Purchase Agreement has been signed and your deposit has been received.
2) Is there a price difference between cords & weights and spring/spiral balanced sash windows?
No, the price is the same for both balancing systems.
3) Do your windows and doors carry a CE mark?
Yes, Sashed makes Declarations of Performance, all of our products have a CE label, to show that they comply with the relevant standards.

4) Do I need to paint my windows and or doors after fitted?
Our new windows and doors, including any trim or architrave are spray-painted to an immaculate standard with no need to paint after they are fitted.
5) Do you provide different types of installation services?
Yes, Sashed currently provide two different types fitting and installations services in London.

6) Are you FENSA registered?
Yes, Sashed is registered with FENSA our number is 36704. If we install your windows or doors, we will register the installation as compliant with FENSA.

7) Can I see and feel your products before I buy?
We can bring a selection of sample windows to you at a place and time convenient to you, be it your home or place of work. This service is, of course, free of change.
8) What wood types do you offer and what should I choose?
We offer hardwood and softwood timbers. Our softwood option is finger-jointed (engineered) pine and non-engineered pine (used for stained products). Our hardwoods are meranti and European oak.

10) What are your payment terms?
We require payment of 40% of the total Goods and Services upon order. An interim 40% payment of total the Goods and Services is due prior to installation. A final payment of 20% of the total Goods and Services is due upon completion of installation services. Payment for supply only orders a deposit of 50% is required upon order and the remaining 50% is taken prior to collection OR delivery. We do not accept cash.
11) Is my deposit independently insured?
Your deposit is insured by the Independent Warranty Association
(IWA). Deposit insurnace is a requirement for membership to the FENSA scheme.
12) How long are your product guarantees?
Sashed provide ten years across the board on everything from wood & paint finishes to ironmongery & glazing – across all products which have been installed by Sashed. Supply only customers enjoy five years.
13) Is your guarantee backed by an insurance policy?
If you’re both buying products and having them installed by Sashed your guarantee is insured by the Independent Warranty Association
(IWA) for the full ten years, at no cost to you. A copy of your guarantee and insurance policy to back the guarantee will be sent to you when all work is complete and all our invoices are paid. Should you move, you can pass on your guarantee to the new homeowner.
14) Do you offer acoustic windows and doors?
Yes, we have a range of acoustic glazing, when used in combination with seals and gaskets built into our windows and doors frames; creates high performing acoustic products.
15) Can you match my existing windows?
Sashed can usually match any existing windows. We just need pictures of the existing windows to kick the process off.
16) I want to replace my windows but live in a conservation area. Do I need permission?
This depends on a number of factors, like your property type (flat or house). If you are replacing like for like, then you usually do not need planning permission but you should speak to your local authority. Sashed deal with planning permission applications every day, we offer help and advice on this process for free, we also have also created
this help guide.
17) How long does it take to replace my windows?
I would like to completely replace my windows, how long does it take? This will depend on the quantity and size of the windows, but as a general guide two to four windows can be replaced within a day with an extra day or two to ‘make good’.
18) Can I have triple glazing in my sash windows?
Although it is possible to use triple glazing in sash windows there are limitations, we are unable to use cords & weights and instead, use spring/spiral balancing. Its also not usually possible to use triple glazed sash windows in period properties as the sash box frame is too thick to fit in typical period properties.
19) I live in a listed building can I change my windows?
It is not usually possible to change your windows in a listed building unless they are beyond economic repair. For more information

20) Is it possible to just change my single glazed sashes for double glazed ones?
Yes, this is sometimes possible and depends on a number of factors. Please contact us for more details.

22) When do I get my FENSA certificate?
Certificates can take up to 6 weeks to arrive via post after the installation has been registered with FENSA.
